Summary of Position: The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and planning processes to ensure efficient production operations. This role involves managing scheduling boards and maintaining customer satisfaction. The Buyer Planner will work closely with operations, sales, and production teams to ensure timely job creation and material procurement, while adhering to safety standards and promoting a positive work environment.
Job Duties:
- Manage Scheduling Boards
- Ensure customer satisfaction
- Ensure a seven-day turnaround from sales order entry to job creation
- Maintain an up-to-date planning workbench
- Create all rework/remake jobs
- Work within planning workbench, time-phased materials report, and job manager to release jobs to production in a timely manner
- Utilize job scheduling board to manipulate manufacturing schedules to meet customer demand
- Work closely with operations and sales to ensure timely customer notification of delays
- Collaborate with production to decide the best production scenario
- Participate in weekly production meetings, reporting any known issues and providing practical solutions
- Expedite MOMs with manufacturing engineering as required
- Manage procurement of materials and supplies
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and practices
- Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with people
- Strong understanding of the Theory of Constraints and Lean Manufacturing
- Familiarity with and adherence to internal safety standards
- Must be respectful and display a positive attitude
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials up to 25 pounds
- Frequent walking and standing
Safety:
- Protective eyewear must be worn when operating machinery
