Job Summary

Job Description

Nidec is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to aid in providing leadership for the Quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product, processes, and the Quality management system. The Quality Engineer will aid in the development and implementation of systems and processes that promote the prevention of internal and external failures, and will assure compliance to internal, customer, and 3rd party regulatory standards and requirements. The Quality Engineer will ensure manufacturing processes are capable of meeting requirements, as well as define process steps to maintain the company and plant quality system.   • Implement and manage effective process and product controls to ensure product quality.
  • Resolve daily in-process quality issues.
  • Evaluate and monitor raw material, in-process, and finished good components against customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigation and resolution for internal nonconformances, customer product quality complaints, and supplier quality concerns using disciplined problem-solving techniques (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Capture and maintain Quality scorecard metrics, and recommend improvements with the goal of transitioning the organization from a reactive to a proactive culture.

  • Develop and lead internal product/process quality audit system, including closing out audit findings and reporting results to upper management.
  • Design systems for recording and analyzing product quality levels, and interpret and report trends and improvement plans as part of the Quality Operating System.
  • Create, modify, and implement sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions.
  • Maintain gage calibration system to support measurement needs in production and QA.
  • Review new product designs and processes to ensure quality of design and conformance requirements.

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Engineering, Quality, or Equivalent on the job experience
  • Dependable - will do tasks thoroughly to completion
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimension & Tolerance System
  • Good analytical skills
  • Experience with basic quality tools
  • Experience with CMM, Optical Comparator, Veri-roll, and Peko
  • Proficient PC word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Good oral, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with & communicate with vendors
  • Initiative to work with minimum supervision & manage overall task
  • Courage to take on challenges with the possibility of failure
  • Passion for learning
  • Available for travel with short notice (possible international)

Range: 65K-85K DOE
