Summary
Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for report preparation, specification writing, foundation design, geotechnical calculations, and field explorations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform complex engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory analysis
Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction
Perform shallow and deep foundation designs and slope stability analysis
Perform deep foundation analysis for various types of piles
Geotechnical design of:
Shoring and bracing systems such as soldier pile lag walls, sheet pile walls, cellular coffer dams, secant pile walls
Tieback anchors and rock anchors
Retaining walls such as segmental retaining walls, cantilevered retaining walls, gabion walls, reinforced earth walls
Conduct seismic studies such as site class determination, liquefaction analysis, site-specific spectral response analysis, liquefaction induced settlement analysis
Conduct group pile analysis, soil-pile interaction study and lateral load and deflection behavior analysis
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license is essential for practicing independently and signing off on designs
Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, and specific experience with vertical construction projects
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Compensation: $80 - 100k annually
