The Care Chemicals group offers a comprehensive portfolio of chemical processes and innovative specialties. With our finished products for home care, personal care, and agricultural goods, we contribute to the success of our customers worldwide - customers both external and internal to BASF.

The Care Chemicals group has an opportunity for a professional like you to serve as Production Manager at our East Setauket, NY location.

In this role, you will report to the Site Manager and be responsible for the daily operations. You will provide leadership to align both daily and strategic teams and be responsible for improving resource management, technology/ innovation, EHS performance, profitability and build employee capabilities. You will be responsible for leadership and development of employees in an organization of up to 16 direct and indirect reports.

As a Production Manager, you create chemistry by...

  • Leveraging your chemical manufacturing experience, you will support East Setauket operations, as well as site growth activities.

  • Demonstrating your prior experience in manufacturing where you gained strong technical skills, you will establish tactical plant goals and objectives to ensure safe and reliable plant operation with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Your knowledge and understanding of occupational and process safety as well as Good Manufacturing Practices will be essential as you will be accountable for ensuring compliance with EHS and GMP requirements.

  • Your effective interpersonal skills will serve you well to provide technical and administrative guidance to operations, asset and maintenance, and the business in order to optimize the assets and achieve the production plans.

  • You will lead by example and set the environment for taking risks within the organization by addressing constraints and enabling resources. You will support establishing an environment that involves, trust, and optimizes a diverse team and creates a vision that fosters a sense of common ownership.

  • Applying your leadership experience, managing a team of production technicians and others, you will coach and develop staff (salaried and hourly) into high performance teams that exemplify the culture and behaviors required by BASF. You will also rely on this experience as you participate in recruiting new employees and preparing and implementing succession plans.

  • Your proven record of developing creative solutions to new and complex problems, and continuously improving systems and processes will be critical as you support the strategic objectives of the value chain by alignment of strategies with day to day operations, identifying and removing barriers to the success of the business.

If you have...

  • Preferably a 4 year degree in engineering, science or related field.

  • Previous leadership experience, minimum of 5 years preferred.

  • Preferably a minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a cGMP environment.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $100,800 - $126,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
