Kitsap County Diesel/Gasoline Mechanic in East Port Orchard, Washington
Position Information Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the incumbent performs skilled mechanical work on gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, performing a variety of mechanical, preventive maintenance and related work to ensure effective readiness and operation of the County\'s vehicles including but not limited to autos, pickups, trucks, road maintenance and sewer equipment. Other assignments include servicing and Diagnosing equipment, repairing and mounting tires, modifying and fabricating equipment and parts, welding broken items and maintaining tools and the shop area in a clean and orderly condition.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Associates degree in automotive/diesel technology or related field; and
- Two years recent experience as a heavy-duty diesel/gasoline mechanic; OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work.
Preferred Experience
- Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience in electrical/electronics, hydraulics, and hydraulics systems with air or low voltage control circuits
- Metal Fabrication, welding and/or machine shop experience.
- Washington State Class A Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) for the operation of related equipment with Endorsement N or X and air brake restriction removed.
This is a full-time position with a full salary range of \$25.74 - \$36.37 hourly. This position is covered under the Council Collective Bargaining Agreement. It offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance and WA State Pension (retirement),11 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays, 8 hours annual vacation and 8 hours sick leave accrued monthly.
