MSU’s Rehabilitation Counseling programs are partnering with the Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, and Southern University and A&M College to create new pathways for individuals with disabilities from marginalized groups—particularly those from underrepresented racial groups—to pursue high-demand careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or medicine, entitled Project STEMM UP.

We seek a Project Evaluator to join the team and contribute to a U.S. Department of Education-funded multi-year, multi-site project. This position will be renewed annually and can be renewed for up to 5 years.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are essential elements vital to the culture our team endeavors to cultivate. This includes providing opportunities and access for all people, which incorporate differences of race, age, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, national origin, migratory status, disability/abilities, political affiliation, veteran status, and socioeconomic background.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading research activities related to need assessments and program evaluation using large-scale longitudinal administrative data from the State of Michigan and collected by the project team in the form of surveys, individual and focus group interviews;

  • Identifying measures and creating protocols in conducting formative and summative evaluations of the project and the effectiveness of the interventions;

  • Providing expertise in quantitative methodologies that includes substantial experience conducting statistical analysis and quasi-experimental design using statistical software;

  • Planning and executing quality assurance and improvement of the project based on findings from program evaluations and recommending program improvement initiatives and recommendations;

  • Recordkeeping and managing data agreements and partnerships with community stakeholders;

  • Overseeing, writing, and editing clear and concise reports, publications, manuscripts, and policy/research briefs for both academic and general audiences;

  • Responding to ad hoc data and analysis requests, both internal and external;

  • Producing data summaries, tables, and visualizations for dissemination to community stakeholders;

  • Collaborating with internal and external program evaluators in conducting formative and summative program evaluations and generating reports required by funding agencies;

  • Collaborating with different groups of individuals, including project directors, investigators, staff researchers, postdoctoral research associates, operational staff, affiliated faculty, graduate assistants, and community stakeholders (rehabilitation counselors, individuals with disabilities and families, and employers);

  • Attending regular meetings to keep up-to-date on the overall flow of the project;

  • Providing training and mentoring to project staff and graduate assistants in conducting tasks related to needs assessment and program evaluations;

  • Performing related work as assigned and appropriate based on the specific interests and expertise of the selected candidate.

The Project Evaluator will lead and conduct program evaluations for the project. We seek a person excited to be a member of an interdisciplinary, dynamic, and motivated group driven by a desire to produce high-quality and practical products to drive improvements for individuals with disabilities. The position includes benefits and is fixed term annual, 100% time, beginning January 2024, with the potential for renewals in the College of Education.
