Data Acquisition Instrument Scientist
Position Summary
Major Position Responsibilities
Develops high-channel-density data acquisition systems and provides operation support
Actively participates in FRIB-relevant research
Conducts and supports research, design, and development of other scientific data acquisition (SDAQ) systems
Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge and expertise in maintenance software, such as Git
Significant expertise in object-oriented programming, experience using C/C++ and Python, and knowledge of other programming languages.
Skilled at using ROOT/python to build frameworks for analysis of specific experimental data.
Ability to critically evaluate software and hardware opportunities for inclusion into acquisition or analysis frameworks.
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to communicate, articulate, and present ideas (both verbally and written skills)

Required Degree
Doctorate -Physics, Computer Science or related field
Minimum Requirements
Advanced degree in Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience in object-orientated programming and languages such as C, C++, Python
Experience with the operation of multi-channel detector systems and associated data acquisition systems
One or more years of demonstrated experience in testing hardware and developing software for high-channel density data acquisition systems.
