Position Summary
The position will be housed in the Department of Psychology and supervisory responsibilities will be split evenly between Dr. Behrend and Dr. Hoff. The position is funded through a grant from the Strada Education Foundation. The Research Associate will engage in several research projects focused on Strada’s key priorities, including technology-based career coaching, work-based learning interventions, workforce development for the skilled trades, and community college career pathways. The Research Associate will perform a range of research-related tasks, including conducting analyses, writing and editing papers, project management, and designing studies. In addition, the Research Associate will engage in the following professional development activities:
Attend weekly mentorship meetings and Dr. Behrend’s WAVE lab meetings.
Participate in weekly colloquia through the HRLR and Psychology departments
Engage with MSU Future of Work events and Summer School: The Future of Work Initiative hosts a variety of events to support the Michigan Capital-area community. The Research Associate will be actively involved in conceptualizing these events and building relationships with Michigan partners. The Research Associate will also engage with the summer incubator students as a mentor and advisor on a topic of mutual interest.
The Research Associate will participate in all Strada cohort meetings, including the quarterly virtual convenings and the in-person gathering, and both mentors and the fellow will submit semi-annual and annual reports to Strada.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Psychology, Education, Sociology, Econom
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field, including but not limited to: Psychology (e.g., Industrial-Organizational, Educational, Personality, Human Factors, Social, Cognitive, Psychometrics), Education, Sociology, Economics, Human Resources, Labor and Employment Relations, Management, Organizational Behavior, by date of hire.
Desired Qualifications
High level of verbal, written, and oral communication
Excellent detail orientation and time management skills
Quantitative knowledge of the social sciences related to data analysis, research methods, data collection, psychometrics, and visualization
Substantive knowledge related to the future of work, careers, workforce development, training and education, psychological assessment, and community colleges
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
Ability to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision and direction
