Functioning somewhat independently, the research associate will provide support to the director of the Empowered Youth Project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The person will help design, organize and conduct research and in some cases help in the designing of new protocols. Relevant experience in a research environment is required.
Applicant will be responsible for o rganizing, managing, and analyzing several data sets as well as writing project reports and journal articles from these data. Development of methods of research; developing and/or adapting data collection tools; data collection, analysis and evaluation, and report writing. Design and implement research protocols, methods or instrumentation relative to research procedures; apply for IRB approvals. Collect, prepare and analyze research data; maintain computer databases of research data and ensure data protection; tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; use statistical software to analyze and present data. Support administration of the small grant's awards. Coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate in training and mentorship of graduate undergraduate research assistants. Search pertinent scientific literature as needed. Continue to advance their own research agenda in ways that further their career.
This position is funded for one year- extension contingent on funding.

Relevant experience in a research environment is required.
Expertise in measurement, quantitative methods (longitudinal, nested) data analyses. Familiarity with qualitative approaches (interviewing, case studies). A track-record of publishing in high quality journals and mentoring experience. Interest in youth, education, kinesiology and human development topics would allow for wider collaborations.
