Establish and maintain an environment for children which is clean, safe, stimulating and appropriate for each child's developmental level
Take responsibility for the appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom
Promote healthy eating practices in accordance with center policies
To support physical and intellectual competence, the lead teacher will
Support emerging literacy and language development in response to each child's interests through whole language experiences
Implement a curriculum that fosters the construction of mathematical knowledge through hands-on activities
Use equipment and materials for indoor and outdoor play that promote children's fine and gross motor development
Design and implement activities that foster the development of physical knowledge
To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance, the lead teacher will
Treat each child, co-worker and family member with dignity and respect
Help each child to become aware of his/her role as an integral member of a group
Provide an environment that fosters the development of self-esteem
Plan and implement a curriculum that reflects the cultural diversity of the group
Use guidance strategies that reflect the program philosophy and policies
To ensure appropriate assessment practice for each child, the lead teacher will
Use assessment strategies in accordance with program policies
Link assessment data to curriculum planning and implementation
