Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or on-call position. Performs a variety of duties in support of summer camps and conferences, such as responding to participant concerns, questions and emergencies; maintaining/monitoring camp rules, checking in/out of participants, attending meetings. May involve overnight supervision of participants. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
MSU Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) summer programs offer programming to students in grades 3-11.
The GATE Assistant Program Coordinator position is a part-time professional position. The candidate has to be available during the day, during normal business hours of 8am -- 5pm. The candidate must be available to work consistently from mid-June to the end of July.
This administrative position will be responsible for assisting with all program logistics, managing program registration using an online application system, digital paperwork, and enhancing the parents\' and students' overall positive GATE experience. The Assistant Coordinator is a key "face of the program" to parents and families and excellent customer service skills are an absolute must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete most logistical operations for programs, which may include but are not limited to: All parent program communications (e.: evaluations, information packets, and phone calls), summer program set-up, registration and tracking, and logging student paperwork, scheduling, and class visitations;
- Serve as a point of contact for parents with regard to anything program related. This includes providing prompt responses to emails and phone calls, maintaining professional and appropriate in-person interactions, and showing enthusiasm for the program and students involved;
- Complete various administrative tasks associated with the successful operation of programs;
- Residential MSU dorm stay will be necessary during scheduled programming
- Some local travel to GATE events
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to track information and manage high volume of data.

Our education and certifications:
Minimum 1-year experience in customer service;
Excellent driving record and a valid driver's license.
Computer skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and Adobe;
A completed bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required
