Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement

Position Summary

The Department of Athletics at Michigan State University is searching for candidates to provide leadership and support in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive marketing strategy for varsity sports through various campus and community outreach programs and engagement activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of marketing plans for assigned sports with an emphasis placed on attendance, game presentation and fan engagement.

  • Lead in game presentation for assigned sports to include timelines, scripts and promotion and assist with gameday activation support for Football and Men’s basketball.

  • Provide effective marketing support and strategies geared to maximize ticket sales, including season, mini-plans, single game, post-season and special events.

  • Provide solutions to continuously improve customer service and enhance game-day experience for fans.

  • Support the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics mission statement and exemplify the core values that have been identified for all employees.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Degree

Bachelors

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree in a related field; three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the planning and directing events; ability to work nights and weekends as needed for sporting events

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and marketing events; interpersonal skills including strong skills in written, oral, and electronic communication and effective use of social media.
