Description

We are offering an opportunity for a seasoned Sr. Accountant in East Haven, Connecticut. The role involves key accounting functions, including account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance. The successful candidate will also be adept at utilizing Microsoft Excel and other relevant software for the completion of monthly close processes.

Responsibilities:

• Upload monthly cash activity for the operating account

• Conduct reconciliation of agency bank and investment accounts to monthly statements

• Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain account reconciliations and schedules for balance sheet accounts (e.g., Prepaid Expenses, Accrued Expenses, Due To/From, etc.)

• Maintain the Fixed Asset schedule and related Depreciation journal entries

• Reconcile the monthly credit card statement and compile all documentation to support statement charges

• Analyze and report on billing account write-offs

• Cross-train with the goal of expanding skillset and serving as schedule coverage, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Purchasing

• Assist with periodic and annual audits

• Provide support in analyzing transactions as requested by Management

• Take on other projects/responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Sr. Accountant role or similar is required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation tasks.

• Extensive experience with balance sheet reconciliation is necessary.

• Familiarity with bank reconciliations is required.

• Proficiency in maintaining the general ledger is a must.

• Demonstrated ability to prepare and record journal entries.

• Experience with month-end close procedures is necessary.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
