Pratt & Whitney Engineering is seeking a Technical Fellow with expertise in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to lead the strategy and deployment of Model Based Systems Engineering at P&W. This Fellows appointment is a key leadership position within the Military Engine Design & System Integration (EDSI) organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing MBSE strategy, leading the deployment of MBSE tools and processes to P&W engine programs, and developing MBSE talent within P&W. We seek candidates (1) who have experience as system architects, (2) who have experience in using MBSE with customers and (3) who have experience executing programs in an MBSE framework. This Fellow will strategically develop MBSE by bringing it up to the level of normal business practice across all future military and commercial program applications ensuring anticipated and unanticipated applications are addressed in ways that benefit the business.

As Technical Fellow for Model Based Systems Engineering, the selected candidate will:

  • Develop strategies to advance the MBSE discipline, including focus on growth opportunities, introducing and maturing MBSE tools and developing training and employee development approaches

  • Lead the deployment of MBSE into selected engine programs, including responsibility and oversight for MBSE system model creation, driving requirements development and validation through MBSE, and external customer/partner integration through MBSE

  • Develop innovative and inclusive approaches for talent recruitment, retention, and succession planning

  • Represent P&W, EDSI Engineering, and MBSE team as required both internally and externally with customers and suppliers

  • 10-20% travel is anticipated. Working in a classified environment is required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • 10+ years of engineering and leadership experience

  • Working knowledge of industry standard MBSE tools (sysML based such as Cameo® or Rhapsody®)

  • Practical experience in leading systems engineering for a complex project or program using an MBSE framework

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

  • Active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering

  • Advanced training in Systems Engineering or MBSE methods

  • Experience working on advanced military projects

  • Experience in the role of a system architect

  • Experience in requirements development, integration, and validation

  • Highly motivated, able to communicate and work across organizational boundaries and have an exceptional customer focus

  • Experience serving on external industry MBSE Associations

  • Aerospace and/or gas turbine experience

  • Relative to Pratt & Whitney Technical Fellow responsibilities, the ability to fulfill the following objectives is highly desirable: Technical Leadership, Innovation, Training and Mentorship
