How you will contribute

The Lab Technician role provides support for the analytical lab by providing support to aid in the functioning and administration of the lab as well as support for all categories by performing routine analyses of products following documented protocols as well as coordinating with third party laboratories to conduct additional analyses as requested and distributing results. This role will play a key role in ensuring the continuing functioning of the analytical lab to maintain effectiveness and laboratory safety. Additional role responsibilities will involve the use of analytical techniques such as gas chromatography and thermal analysis techniques for routine analysis and at the direction of senior analytical scientists.

What you will bring

• Provide high quality science at all times by ensuring effective organization of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.

• Support Analytical lab colleagues by performing administrative responsibilities including purchasing and ordering of laboratory consumables and maintaining inventory of routine/frequently used lab consumable materials.

• Support laboratory safety by maintaining chemical inventory.

• Provide support for analytical testing outsourcing by maintaining and utilizing internal LIMS system and interfacing with external laboratory service portal(s).

• Perform a range of analysis following documentation protocols using analytical techniques such as gas chromatography, liquid chromatography and thermal analysis techniques.

• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and utilize new analytical techniques to develop skills to apply to more advanced projects to support senior analytical colleagues.

• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.

• Perform data checking and provide interpretation of results for routine testing and generate interpretive reports.

• Work as part of an efficient global analytical team.

• Participate in client and stake holders’ meetings as required.

• Deliver internal presentations across groups and to technical stakeholders.

• Manage small projects or defined areas of larger projects and plan own workload.

• Proficient in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role such as Microsoft Office and OpenLab data acquisition program.

Education / Certifications:

BS in a relevant scientific discipline

Job specific requirements:

1-2 years experience in an analytical laboratory (or similar environment).

Basic understanding of lab equipment (including gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, etc.) and wet chemistry.

Scientific understanding and ability to conduct chemical analysis in relevant area with limited supervision
