Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Target Rock team!

As our Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for providing quality planning and support for all product lines and processes at Target Rock including Quality Management System activities in manufacturing, procurement, vendor quality assessment, trend analysis, customer interface, and material verification.

Location: East Farmingdale, NY

Salary/hourly rate: $70,000 to $90,000

Your Challenge

  • Manage all quality aspects for products from contract initiation to final shipment.

  • Enforce the provisions of the Target Rock Quality Management System Manual.

  • Conduct internal surveillances in order to verify compliance with the Target Rock Quality Manual.

  • Conduct supplier audits and internal in order to verify compliance to all contract requirements.

  • Provide technical and quality support to all departments.

  • Review and approve material certification and parts requisitions.

  • Conduct material substitution approvals via the MTR process.

  • Conduct inspection planning on a project basis.

  • Become proficient at the quality planning process.

  • Become proficient at the final assembly over check and shipping process.

  • Review purchase orders and vendor certifications; coordinate correction effort for discrepant documentation.

  • Administer MCS6 Material Over check program/ASME Code material upgrade testing.

  • Maintain Commercial specification library as required.

  • Review contracts and provide QA interface with other departments.

  • Support product presentation; documentation/physical attributes.

  • Prepare customer data books as required by contract.

What You Bring

  • Four-year degree, or a two-year associates degree with previous quality engineering experience

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Working knowledge of MIL-Q-9858, ISO9001 and NCA-4000 of ASME section III.

  • Must be able to communicate with customer, government, and inter-departmental personnel.

  • Navy Nuclear Quality Assurance background, preferably with the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program or ASME Industrial Nuclear Program, or ASME section III Commercial Nuclear Quality Assurance background.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and testing practices including casting, forging, heat treatment, welding, and machining.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.

  • Knowledge of metallurgy, materials, processes, and material and processing specifications.

  • Understanding of auditing techniques and objectives.

  • Understanding of root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action.
