About the Cloud Infrastructure Architect 

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining the cloud infrastructure for ACL. This position involves overseeing the ACL Cloud environment, ensuring its security and compliance, and supporting its evolution through new technologies and solutions. The architect will work closely with various stakeholders, including the ACL Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), to meet federal requirements and optimize the cloud infrastructure's performance.  

In this role, the Cloud Infrastructure Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing ACL’s cloud-based microservices architecture. This includes the migration of existing systems to the cloud, managing cloud resources, and ensuring the integration of new technologies. The architect will also play a critical role in enhancing the agency's cybersecurity posture and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.  

The ideal candidate for the Cloud Infrastructure Architect role is a highly experienced cloud professional with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in cloud technologies, particularly proficient with Microsoft Azure or similar platforms. This individual will have a robust background in managing cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on security, compliance, and cost optimization. They will excel in both technical and project management aspects, ensuring the seamless migration of systems to the cloud and the integration of new technologies. They will also demonstrate effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, including the CIO and CISO. They should have experience in developing and maintaining operational documentation, including the ACL Cloud Operations Manual (ACOM) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and be familiar with creating automated dashboards using tools like Microsoft Power Platform. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Manage workload and schedules for changes and activities such as patching, upgrades, and migrations.  

  • Control access to the government environment for contract-related work.  

  • Perform system/site administration utilizing system GUIs and scripts.  

  • Manage and implement certificates within the ACL cloud environment.  

  • Maintain and manage cloud resources and services according to architectural guidance.  

  • Comply with OIRM change management controls and processes.  

  • Monitor monthly cloud service spend to ensure financial management of the ACL environment.  

  • Report and escalate risks or issues.  

  • Develop, maintain, and update the ACL Cloud Operations Manual (ACOM) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).  

  • Monitor and report on the performance of application components in the ACL cloud environments.  

  • Deploy application components to ACL-managed environments using approved deployment tools and workflows.  

  • Support physical and virtual hardware implementation and maintenance.  

  • Monitor and maintain data and database environments, including backups and redundancies.  

  • Recommend and administer database standards and policies.  

  • Provide automated dashboards using government-furnished software to display the status of the ACL operational environment.  

  • Continually monitor cloud consumption and recommend options to reduce costs based on usage data.  

  • Enhance the agency’s existing cloud infrastructure in accordance with new and emerging requirements.  

  • Respond to requests for expanding hosting capabilities and onboarding additional tenants into the Cloud Enclave.  

  • Develop cost estimates, migration plans, and provide engineering support for added capacity.  

  • Follow architecture and security guidance for approved solutions and work towards continual development process and accreditation.  

  • Develop architecture artifacts such as Capability, Operational, Data, System, Services, Standards, and Security models.  

What you bring to the table: 

  • 10 years of experience with Cloud technologies.  

  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure management, particularly with Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms.  

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and experience with FedRAMP compliance.  

  • Experience with microservices architecture, containerization, and modern programming languages such as JavaScript, Node.js, and React.  

  • Proficiency in managing cloud resources and services, including monitoring and cost management.  

  • Deep understanding of DevSecOps, FinOps, AIOps, CI/CD with Guardrails, and IaC.  

  • Experience with infrastructure tools such as ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Splunk, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.   

  • Strong project management skills and experience in migration planning and execution.  

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or similar are preferred.   

BCT offers a competitive total compensation package that, for this position includes a base annual salary range of $145,000 - $155,000 (based on qualifications), along with a generous benefits package.  BCT’s benefits include heavily subsidized medical, dental and vision coverage, fully vested 401k plan with company match, company paid life and disability insurance plans, a strong work-life balance/time-off structure. 
 
This is a remote position, located in any of the fifty United States or Washington, DC.
