Abbott Commercial Analyst in East Brisbane, Australia

OVERVIEW

  • Working closely with the GM, Sales, Marketing & Finance team, the role provides analytical support to enhance decision making, measuring business performance in the market place, measuring impact of marketing operational plans and assist delivery on commercial planning processes and outcomes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain sales performance reports.

  • Create visualizations and dashboards to present data using Power BI and Excel to support the sales and marketing team.

  • Assist in market analysis in the sales and development of products or services.

  • Identify, develop and incorporate data sources to analyze and determine purchasing habits to predict and recommend future trends and behaviors for the commercial team.

  • Develop smart processes and systems to provide visibility and insights into the business to drive focus on opportunities.

  • Support the management of pricing, tenders and contracts.

  • Work closely with sales and marketing to identify opportunities to improve margins.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights and recommendations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, finance and commercial excellence, to support project management, develop pricing strategies and promotional plans.

  • Support the development and implementation of business plans and strategies.

  • Support commercial team on new product launch/business development, market modelling & alignment of market intelligence information.

  • Lead and drive consistency in analytics around market size, revenue and growth – be able to align and work closely with GM, Commercial & Finance team.

  • Evaluate new business opportunities, new products and spending initiatives by modelling alternative financial scenarios (e.g. revenues, margin, cost etc.).

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and provide support for special projects, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or Economics

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Analytics or Finance

  • Innovative thinking and analytical knowledge for assessment and interpretation of data

  • Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to work with senior management.

  • Exposure to business intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau

Desirable

  • Master’s in Business Administration or a similar field.

  • Corporate finance knowledge, budget management training, and research skills.

Competencies and Attributes

Operational

  • Analyze data, create reports, and communicate findings.

  • Speed and high-level accuracy on revenue analysis and forecasting.

  • Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel, SQL, or business intelligence software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to manipulate and analyze large datasets.

  • Ability to use financial modelling software or Excel to create financial models for forecasting and decision-making.

  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) to extract and manipulate data for analysis.

  • Basic programming skills in languages like Python or R can be beneficial for automating tasks, data cleaning, and analysis.

  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for accessing sales and financial data.

  • Understanding of statistical concepts and techniques for data analysis.

  • Ability to create visualizations and dashboards to present data and insights effectively using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel.

  • Strong modeling background and application of various statistical/machine learning models for forecasting and predictive analytics.

  • Able to perform in-depth data validation on data from various resources, research and resolve data discrepancies.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt, collaborate and influence positive outcomes.

  • Well-developed record keeping and time management skills.

  • Ability to plan and prioritise work according to business needs and change focus when required.
