Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision, and/or administration, preferably at the high school level.

  • Graduate study beyond the Master's degree with emphasis on high school curriculum, supervision, and /or administration.

  • A valid New York State certificate as a School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL), or School District Administrator (SDA).

  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • provide leadership and work effectively with staff members, colleagues, parents, and others in the educational community;

  • use creative problem-solving and decision-making skills to provide a positive learning environment resulting in continuous improvement for students and staff; and,

  • speak and write clearly and effectively.

  • Knowledge of ECIC, Section VI, NYS rules and regulations for interscholastic athletics.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Our ideal candidate will have the following preferred characteristics:

  • Willingness to contribute as a member of the administrative team.

  • Coaching experience and/or experience as an athletic program supervisor (or similar).

  • Graduate-level education and/or sports administration coursework.

The successful candidate can expect the following responsibilities:

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the interscholastic athletic program at the high school per the regulations developed by the Board of Education and administration.

  • Assists the Instructional Director for Health, Physical Education, and Athletics (ID-HPEA) in recruiting, selecting, and recommending coaches to the Principal.

  • Assists the Principal in the evaluation of all coaches.

  • Promotes positive school spirit and communication through daily announcements, the school website, and social media.

  • Assists the ID-HPEA in ensuring that coaching staff comply with all rules and regulations of the District, ECIC, Section VI, and State governing interscholastic athletics.

  • Educate coaches and athletes regarding rules and regulations contained in the Williamsville Coaches' Manual and the NYSPHSAA Handbook.

  • Approve and schedule all athletic events, including facilities and turf usage by the community.

  • Arrange for student transportation.

  • Develop ticket-selling procedures, work with the student group that oversees the concession stand, and assess the safeguarding of funds.

  • Monitors the scheduling and voucher completion for officials.

  • Arrange rescheduling of athletic contests (notification of ID-HPEA required).

  • Compile and distribute the master schedule for each season (Principal, ID-HPEA, opponents, and grounds crew).

  • Coordinates crowd control efforts and assigns supplementary personnel as determined for athletic events.

  • Communicate with the grounds crew to ensure playing fields are properly marked and conditioned.

  • Ensures coaches are aware of medical and emergency procedures.

  • Supervises facilities before and after athletic contests.

  • Assists the ID-HPEA in determining needs and creating the interscholastic athletic budget for the school.

  • Maintains an accurate current inventory of athletic equipment and supplies.

  • Checks in new supplies/equipment and distributes to coaches.

  • Collect equipment and supplies from coaches.

  • Assesses program needs and maintenance of equipment and facilities.

  • Assists the ID-HPEA in processing student eligibility forms.

  • Submits forms for all athletic injuries to Nurse, Principal, and ID-HPEA.

  • Award pins and letters to all eligible athletes per District guidelines.

  • Prepares and submits fall, winter, and spring End-of-the-Season Reports to the Principal and ID-HPEA. The reports will include squad lists, letter winners, records, inventories, and personal comments concerning the season.

  • Attends scheduled meetings with the ID-HPEA.

  • Communicate with the Principal and ID-HPEA regarding all interscholastic activities including game scores, schedule changes, student behavior matters, etc.

    ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Is familiar with and contributes to the successful implementation of the District's Mission and Belief statements

  • Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff assigned to the building.

  • Carry out disciplinary procedures related to student tardiness and attendance as established by the District.

  • Assist in screening, interviewing, and recommending candidates for professional and support staff positions.

  • Participates in and supports the implementation of all fire emergency drills and procedures.

  • Serve as a member of the Child Study Teams.

  • Supervises evening and weekend activities on a shared basis with other building administrators.

  • Provide for proper chaperone supervision and student security at school dances and other evening functions.

  • Effectively assumes all responsibilities of the Principal in the Principal's absence.

  • Communicates and works effectively with the administrative team, including participating in team meetings and keeping the team abreast of developments in athletics.

  • Communicates and works effectively with administrative assistants in both the athletic and main offices.

  • Assumes responsibility for other tasks as assigned by the Principal.

SALARY: $94,500 - $123,000 Per Williamsville Administrators' Association contract & experience.
