Southern Company Senior Financial Analyst in Durham, North Carolina

PowerSecure has a new opportunity in Finance! "We are seeking either a Senior Financial Analyst or Junior Financial Analyst who aligns with the qualities and values that PowerSecure is looking for." As a member of the Corporate FP&A team, this role will be responsible for supporting the monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, including model building/support, consolidated reporting as well as supporting the Corporate functional teams with managing costs to budget.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

  • 4+ years of experience in Corporate Finance, FP&A, or related role (Sr. Financial Analyst)

  • 2+ years of experience in Corporate Finance, FP&A, or related role (Jr. Financial Analyst)

  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must

  • Experience developing and maintaining financial models

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Hands-on ERP experience

  • Ability to demonstrate analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks

  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial reporting comparing actuals to budget and trend with a focus on consolidated results, SG&A, interest, income taxes, capital expenditures, balance sheet and headcount.

  • Lead the reporting, forecasting and budgeting process for Corporate functional costs working with leadership to ensure fiscal responsibility.

  • Support the company-wide forecast and budget process through model development including compensation, insurance, property taxes, depreciation/amortization and capital expenditures.

  • Partner with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Conducting financial analyses including buy vs. lease analysis and capital expenditure IRR analysis.

  • Preparing ad-hoc analyses upon request.
