Here’s the Gist: 
 

Wolfspeed’s Materials Equipment group is seeking an Equipment Engineer to join the pack at Durham SCD. In this role you will drive continuous improvement in the Global Materials organization through the installation of equipment and design of modifications. You will own multiple projects at one time and be responsible for the management of the projects. You will be responsible for tracking critical metrics and improving those metrics.  

This posting is for a position that will directly support operations at the (SCD) Durham Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide.

The person in this role will work a M-F, 8 hour day shift.

The Day-to-Day:   

  • Own continuous improvement projects aimed at improving yield, throughput, uptime, and safety.  
  • Run multiple projects concurrently with little supervision.  
  • Own toolsets and be responsible for tracking and improving critical metrics for uptime.  
  • Mechanical, electrical, networking, computer, coding, PLC, vacuum, and toxic gas troubleshooting. 
  • Perform or direct engineering technician on controlled tests, collecting data, and analyzing preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to improve tool failure rates and eliminate single point failures. 
  • Implement and drive root cause analysis, FMEA, 5 why, Six sigma and Kaizens to development and improve procedures, pm schedules, eliminate reoccurring failures, and improve tool efficiency and availability. 
  • Develop best practice troubleshooting techniques with training and technicians. 
  • Work with engineering teams during tool install process, including facilities design, system layout, system and machine functionality through design process and factory acceptance criteria. 

This Job is Right for You if You Have: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in an engineering discipline with at least 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably semiconductor experience
  • Strong project and data management skills while working on several projects simultaneously 
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills  
  • Demonstrates ownership and sound mechanical and electrical system knowledge along with experience working in these areas of manufacturing plant 
  • Ability to work both autonomously as well as part of a team, taking ownership of tasks and projects 
  • Possess a strong work ethic, creative, as well as, strong problem solving, and analytical skills 
  • MS Office suite proficiency
