Scope of Position:

This position is responsible for promoting an environmentally safe and healthy work environment for all employees throughout the manufacturing facility and to maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations. This position supports the Corning Life Sciences facility located in Durham, NC.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Follows corporate and local policies, standards, and procedures: Ensures EH&S training and education programs are conducted and recorded

  • Works with site leadership to develop the EH&S Site Annual Plan and tracks goals

  • Communicates with division/corporate groups and attends EH&S meetings to represent the facilities’ interests

  • Works with internal and external groups to coordinate industrial hygiene, ergonomic evaluations, emergency response and EH&S audits/ inspections

  • Conducts training as needed to ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA standards and keep all OSHA logs and required recordkeeping

  • Leads investigation and root cause analysis of work-related injuries and environmental incidents in conjunction with supervisors/managers and facilitates corrective action planning to prevent incident reoccurrence

  • Coordinates reporting, tracking, and trend analysis of objectives and workplace injuries when they occur and ensure corporate reporting standards are followed

  • Assesses risk and recommends improvements to equipment and processes to improve EH&S performance

  • Manages and supports all the EH&S personnel at the facility and supports the safety committee

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in technical field (e.g. Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent related experience)

  • 3-5 years of experience in an S&E role at a manufacturing facility

  • Extensive knowledge of S&E regulations

  • Strong computer skills; proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Knowledge and experience of ISO14001 certification process

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Certified Green Belt

  • Experience with risk and statistical analysis

  • Project management experience

The range for this position is $82,910.00 - $114,002.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
