In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies -Solid Dosage Forms US facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. The Position
Responsible for supporting the leader in making recommendations and delivering results in the areas of energy management, capital budget planning and management, and long-range project development all consistent with a variety of comprehensive, financial, strategic, and operational plans.

Essential Functions
Act as primary support for implementation and oversight of site ISO 50001 requirements consistent with corporate standards
Develop monitoring strategies for energy systems, including motive power, thermal energy, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), or any other relevant systems to determine energy usage or potential energy savings
Identify energy saving opportunities and make recommendations to achieve more energy efficient operation site-wide through effective modelling, monitoring, and analyzing energy consumption both electrically and thermodynamically
Recommend technical design and or process changes to improve efficiency, quality, or performance
Support development of project reports as well as other program or technical documentation and operational reports
Support the developmental proposals for alternative energy systems and technologies presented to site leadership
Provide continued consultation to the development, design, or construction of energy conservation projects to ensure acceptability of budgets and timelines while adhering to federal and state laws as well as approved specifications
Evaluate construction design information such as detail and assembly drawings, design calculations, system layouts and sketches, or specifications
Support oversight to applicable domestic and international energy certifications
Support training development to personnel or clients on topics such as energy management and promote awareness or use of alternative energy sources
Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties

Physical Requirements
Moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to thirty-three (33) pounds. Routinely operates and inspects manufacturing equipment. Strap and unstrap pallets. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a twelve (12) hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license and operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or technical degree with a concentration in Thermodynamics from an accredited university required
May consider an associate’s degree in engineering field of study with a minimum of three (3) years of proven field engineering experience in a manufacturing facility required
Minimum of one (1) year of proven field engineering experience in a manufacturing facility required
Working knowledge of alternative energy and/or symbiotic system integration supporting reduced energy consumption preferred
Exposure to engineering design standards (e.g. for system operations and interactions) is a plus
Working knowledge of energy assessments in a manufacturing environment preferred
Willing to acquire project management competencies obtained through relevant project management implementation preferred
