Aerotek Quality Control Technician in Duncanville, Texas

Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

This is a key position within our manufacturing facility which produces quality food products for our customers. The role ensures, through established testing methods, that products meet the specifications of customer-defined targets and works to reduce the variability around these targets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various product tests by testing batches, conducting taste tests on finished products, checking ingredients and recipes, and logging results while correcting any discrepancies.

  • Perform audits of products including batch controls, component weights, finished weights, and other checks, and collect samples of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products as required.

  • Communicate with key personnel within the organization regarding the status of ingredients and products, maintain contracts outside the organization for the specifications and requirements of raw materials, and provide support to other quality assurance functions as needed.

  • Manage raw ingredients through inspections, prepare hold reports and hold tags, and inform necessary personnel and/or departments to determine the disposition of items on hold.

  • Complete necessary daily duties such as entering daily production data into the computer, filing paperwork, and completing various reports.

  • Evaluate hazards and verify measures and procedures to achieve a safe work environment.

  • Ensure daily adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Regulations.

  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively train others.

  • Must be able to read work documents in English.

  • Strong focus on safety.

  • Good understanding of plant quality requirements.

  • Good working knowledge of GMPs.

  • Good attendance and work history.

  • Strong team mentality.

Work Environment

Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness, poor lighting, noise, and vibration. There is seasonal exposure to weather elements, including extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity. The work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosive hazards, and communicable diseases. The position requires the ability to stand, walk around the office, warehouse, and plant, lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds, utilize fine dexterity, and perform reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis. The role also requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates and others using professional etiquette. Personal protective equipment, such as bump caps, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, earplugs, lockout devices, and fall protection, will be provided. The work involves frequent exposure to time pressures, frequent changes of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, tedious and exacting work, irregular work schedules and/or overtime, noisy and distracting environments, working closely with others as part of a team, and, on rare occasions, emergency situations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, Texas.

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50
