About the role:

Maintain safety compliance throughout the facility through program development, training, auditing, and driving continuous improvement. Assist Quality Systems with environmental compliance where required.

What you can look forward to:

  • Identifies and monitors actual or potential hazards in accordance with prescribed procedures at the workplace, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Serves as back-up liaison to outside organizations such as fire departments, rescue teams, and government agencies in the event a manager or specialist is unavailable.

  • Works as an interface between departments to evaluate operations, provide technical guidance, assess training needs, and conducts training as required.

  • Compile data for OSHA compliance to include all written programs, reporting, contractor compliance, plan documentation, training and safety records including required Key Process Indicators.

  • Assist Workers Compensation related issues, tracking and reporting including doctor visits and follow up.

  • Coordinate site assessments/testing for all EHS related issues (ie, equipment installations, ergonomic assessments, etc.)

  • Facilitate incident investigations and ensure appropriate root causes are identified and track corrective actions through implementation.

  • Analyze data to assess EHS challenges and develop approaches to controls.

  • Facilitator for safety committee, Emergency Response Team and/or EHS teams.

  • Provide safety/environmental communications (e.g. postings, bulletin boards, newsletters, employee meetings, etc.) including mandatory safety alerts for near miss and work related injuries.

  • Work with suppliers for health, safety, and environmental supplies.

  • Maintain First Aid Room.

  • Assist Quality Systems Coordinator or HR Generalist with evaluation/management of hazardous/non-hazardous materials for health risks/exposure, proper storage, waste storage, identification and manifesting for proper disposal.

  • Assist Quality Systems Coordinator or HR Generalist as needed with ERIS reporting and other site/division/North America Region required information.

  • Assist Training Coordinator with scheduling of external and internal classes.

  • Compliance with all Internal and External Production Quality Management Systems and Group Directives.

  • Other duties as it relates to this position

Your profile as the EHS Specialist:

  • Associate degree in related field and 3-5+ years experience OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and 0-2+ years experience

  • Experience with EPA and OSHA compliance.

  • Proven knowledge of OSHA Regulations.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

  • Proficient in Microsoft software package.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills

  • High-energy individual who is goal-oriented and results-driven

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Proven self-starter: takes the initiative to identify and drive change.
