The position begins September 23, 2024 through May 4, 2025, with a stipend of approximately $2,035. Scope of position: In accordance with the mission of the UMD Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the assistant coach has responsibility to assist in the development of an intercollegiate sports team within the guidelines of the NCAA, ITA and NSIC governing organizations. Duties/Responsibilities: The Assistant Coach will attend practices and matches as the schedule allows. They will provide insight to all players with a focus on positive coaching, mindfulness, tennis improvement on strokes and match tactics. Provide drill ideas and personalize suggestions to each player. Provide on court match coaching as needed on changeovers. Support student athletes by promoting mental health awareness in order to foster positive team culture. Assist in supporting the Athletic Mission of excellence in the three C's (Classroom, Competition, Community). Attend practices and matches as schedule allows. Provide on court match coaching as needed on changeovers. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university. Experience playing or coaching at the high school and/or collegiate level, Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of NCAA & ITA rules and regulations. Commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment. Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience working with diverse populations. About the Department Bulldog Athletics offers a balance and competitive athletic program. The Bulldogs compete in seven men's and nine women's varsity sports as a members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the National Collegiate Hocket Conference (men) and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (women). Nationally, UMD belongs to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCASS) and competes at the Division II level except for Division I men's and women's hockey.
