They are responsible for cultivating an environment of genuine customer connection, building strong teams, executing visual direction and directing all activities required to drive sales and maximize results in the store. Key Accountabilities: Talent (acquisition, training, retention), Sales Performance, Customer Service, Store Operations (visual merchandising, promotion setup, markdown processing) Key Responsibilities Customer Service - 30%: Drives and achieves a customer focused store environment by delivering product knowledge and fashion expertise to our customers. Consistently demonstrates awareness of the customer in actions, priorities, and decisions. Leads by example by providing excellent customer service. Store Operations - 20%: Minimizes inventory loss by training and directing team to effectively provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and organized store, and thoroughly review policy and procedures. Oversees annual physical inventory cycle. Ensures execution of UMD Stores direction (POS, Visual, HR, Operations, etc.) uses resources appropriately and meets deadlines. Enforces and follows all University Policies and Procedures. Responds appropriately to policy and procedural violations and uses HR Resources to follow university guidelines. Talent Management - 20% Makes quality hiring decisions and nurtures talent through strong networks in the store(s) Grows and develops talent through onboarding, orientation, customer service training, register training, etc. Provides current, direct, complete, and actionable positive and corrective feedback to others ensuring accountability. Accurately appraises the strengths and weaknesses of the team and coaches associates appropriately. Creates and cultivates an environment that allows others to reach their full potential while also fostering a fun and rewarding working climate. Sales Performance - 20%: Responsible for the performance of the store team. Manages payroll hours to support the needs of the business and sustain profitability. Assesses visual needs and directs implementation of promotional changes to maximize sales. Prepares schedules by assessing business needs, traffic patterns and store activity to maximize sales. Communication - 10%: Communicates any staffing or performance issues to UMD Stores Director Communicate product issues (i.e., fit, quality, damages, etc.) to appropriate Buyer Balance time and efforts across Street Level, Lower Level and Express store locations. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has direct supervision of the Customer Service Specialists, Student workers, and Dock Store Specialists. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS degree plus two (4) years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six (8) years. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Experience in hiring and promoting talent. Ability to lead by example, make sound decisions, act on ideas, and demonstrate professionalism. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication. Demonstrated ability to motivate and challenge a team to achieve results. Diligence and the ability to persevere in the face of resistance or setbacks. Growth mindset Physical/Other Requirements Work varied hours/days as business dictates, including periodic weekend shifts. Able to reach, push, pull, stand, squat and bend for up to 8 hours or longer as necessary.
