The Leave Management Coordinator provides support to Direct Care and Treatment, managing all necessary coordinated services of FMLA and other leave absences for all managers, supervisors, and employees. They integrate contract/plan language, federal and state law, and administrative policies/procedure in their daily work.
The Leave Management Coordinator serves as primary contact for employees, supervisors, and managers seeking information on leaves of absences, both paid and unpaid, for an assigned business line.
Major tasks and responsibilities also includes:
· Coordinating leaves of absence such as FMLA, Parental Leave, Medical Leave, Military Leave, etc.
· Maintaining databases, providing reports, insurance coordination, and providing quality control
· Maintaining accountability for providing timely documents, communication and information
· Consulting with Labor and Employee Relations Staff to resolve more complex requests.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience in Human Resources or similar experience that includes:
Administering FMLA and other types of leave requests including determining eligibility, evaluating, processing and tracking requests.
Applying employment contract language, personnel rules, policies, and procedures as it pertains to employee benefits, transactions, and/or payroll.
Knowledge of employment laws including ADA, FMLA, Paid Parental Leave, USSERA, Military Leave, unpaid leave, and Government Data Practices.
Database management, electronic spreadsheets, and word processing software skills sufficient to track HR data, create spreadsheets, and draft presentations or correspondences.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills sufficient to ensure policies, bargaining agreements, personnel plans, processes, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations are followed accurately and consistently.
Demonstrated communication skills sufficient to interact with a variety of clientele at all levels in order to communicate effectively, accurately and in an understanding, timely manner, all while maintaining confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of the AFSCME, MAPE, MMA and MNA collective bargaining agreements; Commissioners and Managerial Plans; rules and laws (i.e. FMLA, Affirmative Action and Data Practices) that affect Human Resources.
Skills using PeopleSoft/SEMA4 sufficient to review employee and position information, pull standard reports, and process personnel transactions.
HR experience with the State of MN
BA degree or higher in Human Resources or Organizational Management or related field.
