We seek a broad-based Earth scientist with general expertise in the areas of surface processes, environmental science and hydrology. The successful candidate will teach 5-6 courses over the academic year from among the following: introductory-level courses on Geology and Earth Systems and Environmental Science; intermediate to advanced courses on Principles of GIS in Environmental Science, Surface Processes, Fluvial Geomorphology, Environmental Hydrology, and Principles of Soil Science. Appointment at the Teaching Assistant Professor (job code 9403) level is preferred and requires the completion of a PhD; however, applicants with appropriate qualifications who are ABD may be considered for appointment at the Instructor level. Qualifications Required Qualifications: completion of a Ph.D. or ABD status in Earth science or related field by August 18, 2025, from a regionally-accredited university or equivalent program; experience in teaching, which may include teaching assistantships. Preferred qualifications: at least one semester teaching college courses as lead instructor and experience with course development. About the Department Earth & Environmental Sciences UMD.
