We are seeking a Software Engineering manager for our Tactical Space Systems, Division. The primary location for this role is in Dulles, VA. Can also consider Dulles, VA; Gilbert, VA; El Segundo, CA; Colorado Springs, CO.)

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • You will be expected to fill a part-time functional Section Manager role and will be responsible for managing a team of 10-15 software engineers and or software test engineers

  • Understand the customer and mission needs to apply expertise in Ground Software issues

  • Leverage experience to assist with designing software architectures for customers based on requirements

  • Collaborate with product owners, users, and other software developers

To be success you should be/have:

  • Knowledgeable about Ground Software and Spacecraft Command and Control concepts including satellite telemetry streams, manual and automated or script-based commanding, interfaces of a variety of front-end processing equipment, end-to-end satellite control including command and telemetry database and flight table management

  • Experienced in strong team building and collaboration skills

  • A self-starter capable of making decision with overall project budget and schedule in mind

  • Capable of managing a team performing many independent tasks in a hybrid work environment

  • Exceptional leadership skills to coordinate collaboration across engineering teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM degree, 3+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of Software Engineering, as well as program management/personnel management

  • High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring

  • Significant experience with design, build, deployment, and aftermarket service of standard commercial software products

  • Experience in design, development, implementation, or operation of Spacecraft Ground Software systems

  • SW development background, including experience with C++, Python, Bash Shell Scripting, and/or Perl

  • Strong experience in producing software architecture documentation

  • Organized and focused on time management, customer engagement, and able to work through team dynamics and personnel issues

  • Must have experience with NG process and procedures

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret level clearance

Salary Range: $126,600 - $189,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
