Commercial Lines Account Handler

In partnership with our client, one of Ireland’s leading insurance brokers we are seeking experienced Commercial Lines Account Executives for their Galway and Dublin Offices.

Our client provides a comprehensive insurance broking service to all business sectors and professions and their activities span the full range of commercial and personal general insurances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead the management and servicing of a commercial portfolio of customers in order to retain profitable existing business and generate new business.

  • Provide ongoing servicing to existing clients and closely manage the relationships throughout the renewal cycle to ensure retention of the account – outside of this strategically communicate with customers as required.

  • Analyse customer needs and cover and identify any opportunities to strengthen their risk management structures.

  • Market and present customer accounts to insurers and negotiate premiums in turn on their behalf.

  • Collect and submit any additional information required by underwriters and follow up to ensure placement of the risk.

  • Input all information correctly onto Applied Relay and ensure clear and concise file notes.

  • Monitor and review business figures (new business, renewals, fees & commission, margins etc) and ensure collection of monies due on the account.

  • Mentor and train Account Handlers as required.

  • Attend customer meetings with the Sales team on prospects and provide subject matter expert support as required.

Experience / Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years broking / insurer experience

  • Detailed knowledge of commercial insurances product ranges across the various markets for the following:

  • Commercial Property

  • Employer’s Liability & Public Liability

  • Professional Indemnity

  • Commercial Fleet

  • Specialist Insurance e.g., Agri, Marine, Engineering, Credit, Construction Bonds, Cyber etc

  • Strong personal lines knowledge

  • Customer knowledge and understanding of their business and industry sectors

  • Proven track record in sales generation and business development

  • Familiar with compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Strong IT skills with previous experience of Applied Relay being desirable but not essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
