The Data Center (DC) Security Team provides physical security solutions to protect AWS personnel, AWS facilities and information of our customers.

For the Multi-Cluster Security Manager role, the AWS Data Centre Security team is looking for a forward-thinking, results-oriented, innovative and inspirational leader with proven results building high performing teams. The candidate will have the ability to develop strategy, execute and lead DC security operations across Ireland and the UK. As a Multi-Cluster Security Manager, you will be expected to implement and verify compliance with security procedures, standards, and policies; while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of physical security at our facilities. You will champion new initiatives for the DC security team and oversee implementation in coordination with multiple business partner teams. The candidate will have experience leading cross-functional teams, writing security strategies, driving processes to achieve industry-leading security and driving down costs through process improvement and technology enhancement. You will report to the Regional Security Manager for DC Security in Europe. You will be expected to operate with autonomy, complete discretion, and your work will require significant creativity and judgment. The ideal candidate will be confident, decisive, influential and an innovative leader who can communicate a compelling and comprehensive set of outcomes to be achieved. You will have the presence and influence to define and enforce high standards for programs you lead, implement and monitor at all levels. You must be comfortable with ambiguity, and be able to define structure, processes, and standards where none yet exist. Furthermore, you will deliver on the physical security mission and tenets; mitigating risk and balancing tradeoffs in cost, efficiency and operational challenges.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities

— Build trust, establish and maintain customer relationship with DC business partners to execute a comprehensive strategy that enhances security, while enabling our partners to build customer capacity.

— Responsible for planning, developing and implementing security plans and security programs such as Emergency Response and Crisis Management.

— Maintains an extensive knowledge of complex industry trends, current security issues and security technology, and updates management on risk and threats against AWS employees and infrastructure.

— Responsible for performing continual risk analysis for the DC sites, particularly with respect to level of crime, terrorism, workplace violence, and threats from natural and man-made disasters.

— Responsible for providing leadership and best practices on security policy and practices to on-site DC management.

— Looks around corners and identifies vulnerabilities early and designs and implements security strategies to mitigate.

— Provides leadership and clear direction to AWS DC staff as well as contract security staff to achieve strategic security program objectives.

— Supports regional and global security leadership in conducting investigations of significant threats and/or the loss or misappropriation of assets.

— Liaison with law enforcement agencies for the locations of the DC.

— 25% travel required both domestic and international.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related discipline.

  • 5+ years professional experience in leading large, global compliance programs

  • 7+ years of experience operating as a manager of managers

  • 12+ years physical security experience leading and implementing multiple security best practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership of professional security bodies such as: American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Security Institute of Ireland or the International Foundation of Protection Officers (IFPO).

  • A security related certification such as ASIS CPP or PSP

  • A third level certification in a security related discipline
