The role in Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) business offers a unique opportunity to support the business in adopting and implementing Citi’s Data Governance program and complying with the various Citi Policies for data management and governance. The role reports into the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Regional In-Business Risk Manager.
EMEA Data Governance Officer will help businesses and countries in EMEA to understand and implement Citi Data Governance and other related policies. EMEA DGO will have to own and run the Data Governance council meetings, facilitate regional coordination and provide effective challenge wherever necessary.
Ensures line of sight into regulatory data initiatives executed in the region covering Data Quality Exceptions (DQE), Issues Management Resolutions (IMR), Data Lineage & Tracing, Consent Order use cases, etc.)
Facilitates local coordination, collaboration, and governance across products in the region
Provides effective regional challenge against relevant local regulatory data management activities and initiatives
Responsible for governing and (in some cases) approving region-specific program deliverables, such as:
DQ rule changes, providing approval DQ exception calls run by Data Operations
Annual Business Glossary Maintenance
- Data Domains: Support Trusted Source Assessments & Data Standards Adoption for regional Product Processors
Regional Audits (regionally focused on Data Input Validation and EUCs)
Chair EMEA Data Governance Council (be TTS DGO voice in the region, explain local reg data policy updates to constituency, provide regular updates of local relevance)
Global / Regional TTS DGOs remain connected to their constituencies through monthly information sharing sessions, Global Data Governance Council, Regional Data Governance Councils
Understand and expand knowledge about the different businesses offered by TTS and their data landscapes.
Visibility and networking across products, functions, and regions.
Interaction with senior stakeholders often up to CXO level.
Proven experience in the practice and implementation of different aspects of Data Governance in medium/large organisations.
Clear understanding and working knowledge of Data Quality measurement and reporting, Data Quality Issues Management and Remediation, Data Lineage and Data Tracing.
Ability to communicate with data modellers, data architects, technology and operations and challenge as and when necessary.
Ability to comprehend data and information policies and educate businesses in appropriate terms through presentations and workshops.
Experience of writing procedure documents and training materials on related topics.
Prior experience of coordination among large and diverse stakeholder groups.
Attention to details but at the same time ability to see the bigger picture and act in accordance.
Some technology background good to have but not mandatory
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal for interacting with offices with varying cross cultural and language differences

5-7 years of relevant experience Data Governance and/or other disciplines of Data management.
First-line or second-line functional experience in banking or financial services preferred but not mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, information management, or similar will be advantageous.
Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
