The Director will partner with the business to build strong relationships and provide subject matter expertise in terms of Analytics to collaborate on opportunities while leading a team leveraging and optimizing data. The successful candidate will contribute to creating and maintaining clear, strategic vision for their team and develop plans for bringing actionable, innovative analytic solutions to the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of analysts focused on analysing and forecasting client and manufacturer utilization and financials, and building a suite of accompanying reporting tools

  • Direct and implement the team’s analytic activities to support decision-making across multiple lines of business within the company

  • Be responsible for the delivery of results and the support of business strategies derived from data insights

  • Collaborate with different lines of business within Optum to understand their analytic needs, act as consultant to propose business solutions, and communicate results of analytics

  • Implement process improvement initiatives and automation for efficiency where appropriate

  • Anticipate customer needs, proactively develop solutions to meet them, and forecast / predict the impact of business strategies using data analytics

  • Research, interpret, and analyse diverse and complex data

  • Participate in all phases of project development life cycle including database design, process flow, benchmark and trend analysis, and financial modeling

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree Qualified (BA, BS) in relevant field (analytics, mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering)

  • Proficient in research, interpreting, and analysing diverse and complex data, as well as developing data analytic solutions to real-world business problems

  • Extensive analytical experience in financial analysis, healthcare pricing, network management, healthcare economics, or related discipline

  • Good experience leading and managing teams of data analysts. Ability to direct a team’s activities and position it within in the business for maximum impact

  • Advanced data manipulation skills and proficiency in SQL, Excel, Power BI and Tableau. Experience in least one data modelling language such as R, Python, SAS or Alteryx

  • Significant experience in creating and using financial modelling tools, spreadsheets, and information acquisition tools including experience in interpreting and reviewing financial modelling results to evaluate the financial impact of contract changes and develop forecasts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare data

  • Masters and/or PhD in Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Econometrics or other relevant field of study

  • Publications or presentation in recognized analytics / data management journals / conferences
