Amazon Cabling Technician - Data Center , Late Binding in Dublin, Ireland

Description

We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Responsibilities:

· Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center.

· Installation and testing of copper and Fiber Optic cabling.

· Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.

· Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.

· Regularly lift 15kg or move heavy objects into position.

· Regularly work at heights and from ladders.

· Managing inventory of related materials.

· Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.

· Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.

· Ability to travel within geographical work area is required, some travel outside traditional work area may be requested.

  • Ability to use computers with ease, and to navigate between emails and chat applications.

  • Follow directions and work independently.

  • Communicate well with the team.

  • Climbing Step platform ladders.

  • Demonstrate fiber/copper cable background.

  • Understanding of cabling procedures.

  • Troubleshooting server and network devices.

  • Health and Safety background.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent diploma

  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure

  • Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies

  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in networking

  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

  • Experience working in a colocation data center facility
