Job Description
AECOM Middle East are currently looking for a Computational Designer to bring advanced digital and computational expertise to our urban design and master planning projects. This role will focus on enhancing project workflows and efficiency through scripting, parametric modeling, and data analytics. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our urban design team, using tools like Rhino, Grasshopper, GIS platform or Revit Platform to develop data-driven models and streamline design processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive innovation in urban design, directly impacting the quality and efficiency of our work.
Responsibilities:
Work on a wide range of products, projects, and tasks.
Perform data mining, data manipulation, data analysis, and data visualization. Assist in building complex data models with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including spatial and non-spatial data.
Support and create client-facing, user-friendly dashboards, tools, and applications (desktop or web-based). Create reusable scripts to automate procedures.
Support in research and development of innovated products, tools, and platforms.
Develop graphics, maps, reports, and presentations for internal and external use. Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computational design, architecture, urban planning, urban design or related fields.
Strong proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper, with experience in developing scripts in Python to expand Grasshopper’s capabilities.
Ability to use additional Grasshopper plugins for analysis, procedural modeling, and evolutionary algorithms, leveraging tools such as Galapagos for optimization, Kangaroo for physics-based modeling and others
Strong proficiency in Revit and Dynamo, with experience in developing scripts in Python to expand Dynamo’s capabilities, integrate external libraries or APIs, and enhance Revit workflowsBasic experience with GIS platforms and the ability to work with 3D design programs, such as ESRI CityEngine and ArcUrban, to integrate geographic data into urban design.
Capable of creating seamless workflows between Rhino/Revit and GIS, enabling effective data exchange and visualization across platforms.Data visualization Skills. Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or other programs/libraries.
Basic to intermediate experience with AI tools for visualization and design enhancement, using AI-driven platforms or techniques to support urban design and modeling.
Commitment to continuous learning, staying updated on new digital tools, techniques, and emerging trends in computational design and urban analytics.
Additional Information
3 years’ relevant work experience in urban planning/urban design projects involving data analysis, data modeling, or data visualization in consulting, research, or academic fields.
Working knowledge with Rhino/Revit and Grasshopper/Dynamo tools
2 years’ experience in at least one programming language such as python, R, JavaScript, or VBA/Macros.
