L2 Aviation Lead Production Technician (1st Shift) in Dripping Springs, Texas

Position: Lead Production Technician - 1st Shift Locations: Dripping Springs, TX (Austin, TX area) Description: Must be able operate various items of machinery, fully understand departmental and corporate processes, and utilize various hand tools in fabricating and assembling harnesses and electronic components in accordance with production assembly orders and/or engineering drawings. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Coordinate the production activities of the Production team based on the direction provided by the Production Supervisor, and/or Production Manager ensuring optimal productivity and adherence to schedules. Lead the assigned shift Production team, providing guidance, training, and support to optimize their performance and foster a positive work environment. Complete work orders, actively participating in fabrication tasking alongside the assigned shift Production team. Collaborate with the Production Manager, Production Supervisors, and other departments, such as Planning, Engineering and Quality Assurance, to ensure seamless production flow, timely completion of projects, and compliance with specifications. Complete all In-Process Inspections (IPIs) for the assigned shift Production team, ensuring compliance with established quality standards and all fabrication requirements. Monitor production processes, equipment, Metrics, KPIs and workflows to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures as needed. Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing proper safety protocols and ensuring that all employees in the assigned shift Production team adhere to safety guidelines and procedures. Troubleshoot and resolve any production-related issues or equipment malfunctions promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous production flow. Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to avionics production and integration. Standard duties include but not limited to: Incoming inspection of kits received from Material Control/Pre-Production. Laser Marking of wires and alternate identification processes Creating bag and harness labels Wire preparation which includes stripping of wires and crimping of pins as well as installing solder sleeves Terminating/prepped wires into connectors Form boarding harnesses per engineering documents and best shop practices. Continuity checks of all assemblies IAW Customer and L2 requirements. Final bagging and kitting. The technician will have the knowledge to create production center project file folder, wire chart development. Proficient in harness manufacturing. Possesses the skills required and can train others on more complex terminations such as coax, Ethernet, Quadrax as some examples. Ability to operate avionics test equipment such as digital multi-meter, TDR, Cirrus tester, VSWR Tester, etc. Basic understanding of troubleshooting techniques. All work will be done in accordance with company SOP’s (Standard Operating Processes) and any governing technical data such as aircraft manufacturer standard wiring practices, IPC 620, or FAA applicable requirements for safe and high-quality product completion. Being proactive in the department’s Continuous Improvement Program and assisting in the creation and/or revision of existing SOP’s required. Tool control, shop cleanliness, 5S, work area cleanliness is a daily responsibility as well as a dedication to producing top quality industry leading products. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES High school diploma or trade equivalent Familiarity with Manufacturer Standard Wiring Practices Minimum 3+ years’ experience as an assembler in a manufacturing environment Harness, Panel or Kit assembly experience Aerospace or aircraft Electrical and or Mechanical assembly experience (preferred) Understanding and familiarity with handling electrostatic devices and components Experienced in working with various hand tools Solder experience (solder certification to IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001 desirable) Ability to read color-codes, assembly and harness drawings. Global Shop ERP experience.
