POSITION SUMMARY:
Fills and serves trays in conformance with physicians' diet orders following an established patient tray identification system; pre-portions cold foods prior to each meal service; cleans and sanitizes trays following every meal; transports meals to the nursing units in a safe and sanitary manner; and cleans and sanitizes equipment and work areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pre-portions cold foods prior to each meal service; and pre-portions nourishment for between-meal feedings; and delivers nourishment.
- Fills and serves trays onto tray delivery carts; transports carts to nursing service areas and to dining room.
- Scraps trays, loads and operates dish machine, disposes of garbage and trash; and cleans and sanitizes utensils and equipment.
- Stores carts, utensils, trays, unused food and non-food items in a sanitary manner.
- Sweeps, scrubs equipment and floors in kitchen, dining room, personnel cafeteria, offices, bathrooms and conference room; and cleans walls as assigned.
- Performs in a safe, sanitary manner, conforming to all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of department.
- Maintains high standards of sanitation in personal hygiene, work environment and patient contact.
- Maintains excellent food handling techniques in preparation, serving, transporting, storage and cleanup.
- Reports unusual or questionable conditions or items to supervisor, as well as plate acceptance from garbage return.
- Uses equipment with safety and respect for property of others.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write and understand instructions; ability to learn principles of good patient care through food and nutrition; and ability to apply principles learned to workload.
