Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Environmental Scientist, Geologist, Engineer or Hydrogeologist to join its collaborative team in its Doylestown, PA location. This individual will serve a key function in providing primarily office and limited field support to investigation activities, including soil borings and monitoring well installations; collecting multi-media samples; supporting field oversight during active remediation activities; and compiling and interpreting data and preparing reports. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, solve problems and overcome challenges in remediating complex sites. Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and support of field investigations including monitoring well installation and sampling of soil, vapor, sediment, surface water, and groundwater;

  • Oversee and support complex construction projects to ensure the contractor has complied with job specifications;

  • Oversee operation of remediation systems;

  • Assist with obtaining regulatory agency permits to support investigation and remediation activities;

  • Review a variety of standard logs and field forms (such as drilling logs, field investigation daily reports, and chain of custody forms);

  • Review and interpret environmental, geological, and historical records to support environmental due diligence;

  • Identify and implement solutions to both routine and more complex field challenges and to inform the project manager of outcomes;

  • Lead tasks associated with the preparation and modification of engineering documents such as reports, bid specifications, plans and cost estimates;

  • Assist with the management of project budgets and schedules;

  • Interact with client and subcontractor representatives in close collaboration with project manager; and

  • Supervise, mentor and coordinate the work of staff engineers, interns and others who assist in specific assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology;

  • 4+ years of related experience in contaminated sites investigation, engineering feasibility studies, remedial and mitigation system design and construction oversight;

  • Experience conducting Phase I and II environmental site assessments

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations preferably NJDEP and PADEP regulatory programs;

  • Experience working with state regulatory agencies;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multi-tasking, and judgment capabilities;

  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;

  • Availability to work overtime as needed; and

  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
