POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the Director of Recreation Therapy and the Assistant Therapeutic Recreation Director in following the specific treatment plan as established during the interdisciplinary care planning process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists and conducts one-on-one, unit and larger programs.
- Monitors and documents resident involvement and progress as established by state or federal regulations.
- Establishes short- and long-term goals that are measurable, specific and time-oriented for each resident under his/her care.
- Reports increase and/or decrease in functioning of residents to Director for review of care plan.
- Follows established program directives, policies and practices.
- Obeys all safety rules and regulations.
- May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time be training on the job. More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents and other county employees.
- Ability to write a clear, concise resident-care notes that meet state and federal regulations.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work without supervision.
Work schedule is flexible, variable and based on departmental need.

- One year's experience working with (direct involvement) a geriatric population.
- One year's special training, education or experience in programs that are considered appropriate to geriatric activity programming.
Exhibit ability in any or all of the following areas: music, art, crafts and innovative unit programs.
