Job Responsibilities

• Maintain tooling for plant machinery: plan, layout, and perform all required bench, heat treating, and machine operations to be performed in the plant. Construct, or repair, a variety of complicated and ordinary molds as well as a variety of tools, gauges, jigs, and fixtures. Work from blueprints, sketches, and suggestions of supervisors. Recognize and report errors in design that would interfere with producing or checking parts. Skill to maintain the proper finish, general workmanship, fits, and allowances where progressive machining operations and skilled finishing operations involving filing, chiseling, scraping, polishing, fitting, and adjusting are performed.
• Maintain and upgrade fixtures and cavities - construct parts, and alter, or repair, a variety of tools, jigs, fixtures, and mold cavities where standard work methods can be used.
• Troubleshoot machining: tear down, determine repairs, and replace parts when required. Study worn out, broken, and damaged equipment and diagnose issues.
• Willingness to work with other departments to ensure a good quality of work is performed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Physical requirements - intermittent average physical effort handling parts (approx. 50 lbs), material, or equipment. Handling time of such average weight is not sustained although activity may be continuous due to intermittent work and lightweight items. Heavy work is handled with a hoist. Continuous mental and visual attention to planning and laying out work. Exposure to heat, noise, dust, and oil.
