Job Description
Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.
As a Principal Cloud Architect you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Cloud Engineers. Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex solutions. Develops and delivers outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Leads any and all aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 3-5 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 7 years business experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools. Ability to implement the most advanced product features. Thorough knowledge of system and application design. In depth knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. A/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.

Roles & Responsibilities
Serve as a key member of the MySQL HeatWave Cloud Engineering team focused on driving overall MySQL HeatWave adoption.
Working alongside our sales teams, help our customers and prospects identify and define their core issues, determine a path to create real opportunities for their organizations, and deliver presentations and demonstrations to help them understand our solutions for them.
Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the cloud computing market.
Experience with account management (Enterprise, SMB and startup) and solution selling.
Maintain strong database technical knowledge with ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate between varied database approaches (relational, non-relational, in-memory, data warehousing, etc.)
Develop and deliver compelling presentations, product demos, sample solutions, and discussions to drive awareness and adoption of MySQL HeatWave.
Identify leads for potential partnerships and customer opportunities in the MySQL Database Ecosystem.
Collaborating with internal teams to define the product road map and market positioning for MySQL HeatWave offerings.
Identify, drive, develop & support community user groups and developer program initiatives for MySQL HeatWave.
Create and maintain white papers, screencasts, demos and videos about MySQL HeatWave with relevant emerging technologies, open source projects, and industry developments.
Basic Qualifications
Fluent English
Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations is key.
This person will be technical and analytical, and possess significant business development, enterprise sales, or program/product management experience.
Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
Travel required 25-35%
Preferred Qualifications
Database experience, programming skills, Linux skills highly preferred
Cloud Skills and experience highly preferred.
AWS and/or GCP Certifications.
MySQL and/or OCI Certifications.
LAMP Stack hands-on experience.
Database Systems Certifications.
Experience working with MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL and AWS databases.
Experience working and traveling independently.
Machine learning and GenAI knowledge are a plus.
Experience with public speaking at conferences and meetups.

US: Hiring Range: from $113,000 to $185,200 per annum. May be eligible for equity. Eligible for commission with an estimated pay mix of 70/30.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
