About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief of Staff of the Office of the CEO, the Director of Internal Communications will work with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to define the internal communication strategy while providing ongoing counsel for effective and impactful communications. You can lead with influence and are comfortable working with senior executives. The ideal candidate for this role is just as comfortable developing a strategy as they are rolling up their sleeves and executing it themselves. You will also build and lead a world-class communications team.

What You Will Do:

  • Define, develop, and execute an impactful internal comms strategy: Develop core themes and a strategic plan for how they cascade to employees. Play a central role in the communication of key company moments like quarterly earnings, team changes, M&A, and product and partner launches. Create the metrics for success to measure the effectiveness of communications initiatives and to inform future approaches

  • Support Key Leadership: Work with each functional area on team-wide communications to ensure alignment with the overall tone and messaging. Become a trusted advisor for all internal communications needs to our executive team and department heads

  • Maintain a Comms Calendar: Develop and run an internal calendar of comms touchpoints and moments to ensure important information is communicated at the right time and to the right channel. This involves working with internal stakeholders to update the calendar with significant happenings in each area

  • Operate Key Communication Channels: Ensuring company-wide communications are consistent in clarity and tone. Work with stakeholders on the correct approach, including Digital Push, Digital Choice, and real-time communications. Pioneer new communications approaches, mediums, and channels for a remote-centric workforce

  • Establish and Document Clear Principles and Procedures: Establish repeatable frameworks and playbooks to drive efficiency and predictability, Enable stakeholders on the internal comms principles to align tone

  • Build and lead a world-class internal communications team to help make your vision a reality.

What You Will Bring:

  • 8+ years of experience with internal communications and/or employee communications in high-growth environments

  • Strong people management skills with a proven ability to manage, lead, and inspire a growing team of communications professionals

  • Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility 

  • A great teammate who can lead by example and be both strategic and hands-on

  • Able to quickly react and respond with grace under pressure

  • Comfortable collaborating with senior leadership

  • Creative problem solver

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $183,800 - $220,500, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
