Job Description Summary
The Non-Invasive RN is responsible for assessing the nursing needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients in the Non-Invasive Cardiology department. The nurse performs stress tests (nuclear, graded, lexiscan, Dobutamine), administers moderate sedation for TEE procedures, and manages patient drips.
Job Description
Essential Functions
Operate stress systems
Administration of moderate sedation for TEE (Transesophageal Echo) procedure
Prepare and administer medications needed for stress testing
Transport patients to and from testing area as needed
Turnover and clean stress/TEE rooms between procedures
Use principles of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) to communicate/educate patients and their families prior to, during, and after their procedure
Complete checkoffs prior to procedures to verify: H&P, lab results, consents, protocol adherence to chest pain accreditation.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience Required
- Two (2) years nursing experience
Minimum Experience Preferred
- Two (2) years of cardiac med surg nursing preferred
Minimum Education Required
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current Alabama nursing license
BLS certified
ACLS certified
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to communicate effectively in an emergent situation
Ability to recognize changes in a patient’s condition and respond accordingly
Ability to titrate and monitor common cardiac drips
