Job Overview:
The Training Specialist applies their conceptual knowledge of Training (Fab) and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward Training (Fab) problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Training Specialist understands critical business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive training and competency programs for the fabrication function of the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) industry
Collaborate with project managers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to identify training and competency needs and develop training and competency materials that align with organizational goals and objectives
Conduct training and competency sessions, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations to impart technical knowledge and skills required for efficient fabrication processes
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training and competency programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing improvement
Keep up to date with industry advancements, technology trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to fabrication processes, integrating these into training and competency content
Create and maintain a training and competency database and records, ensuring accurate documentation of training and competency activities, participant progress, and certification records
Support the continuous development and enhancement of training and competency materials, methodologies, and tools, ensuring they are up-to-date, user-friendly, and engaging
Collaborate with the HR department to identify training and competency gaps, succession planning needs, and skills development opportunities, providing input for workforce planning and talent management strategies
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Engineering, Fabrication, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline
Proven experience of at least 5 years in designing and delivering training and competency programs within the fabrication function of the EPCI industry
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, materials, and industry standards and practices (e.g., ASME, AWS, API)
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to various audiences
Proficient in using training tools and software for content development, delivery, and assessment
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing organizational needs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify training and competency gaps, evaluate training effectiveness, and propose innovative solutions
Passion for learning, and staying abreast of industry advancements and technological developments
Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and records management
Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with virtual meeting tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
