The Quality Engineer will continuously improve safety, quality, business, and manufacturing processes with emphasis on eliminating process waste. The role will use structured quality improvement tools to drive and eliminate process waste. The Quality Engineer will design new processes and re-engineer existing processes to product outcomes that meet safety, quality and business expectations.

YOUR IMPACT:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct continuous improvement of quality control testing, detection and defect prevention.

  • Coordinate the resolution of quality issues. Respond to all platform quality process nonconformance issues in an expedient manner. Analyze and lead implementation of effective solutions.

  • Construct quality data tracking, analysis, reporting, root cause investigation, corrective/preventative action & effectiveness verification, and develop quality standard operating procedures.

  • Subject matter expert in multiple quality areas, proficient within a minimum of two platforms.

  • Communicate effectively and work inter-functionally with Employee Teams, Quality, Engineering, Global Procurement & Supply Chain (GPSC), Contracts, Sales and Manufacturing to resolve quality related issues, deficiencies and improve processes.

  • Facilitate quality led forums with various teams providing business impact, risk assessment and data-based guidance, identifying where there are largest opportunities, such as to increase first pass yield, reduce defects per unit, and achieve strategic deployment business targets.

  • Perform process capability studies internally and externally.

  • Design and improve process inputs to gain desired outcome.

  • Improve processes to reduce common cause variability and eliminate special cause.

  • Establish control plans to prevent process backsliding for consolidation of gains.

  • Analyze process constraints and develop standards to overcome constraints.

  • Investigate/analyze and benchmark industry practices for process validation assessments.

  • Implement effective corrective and preventative actions utilizing structured planning methods.

  • Support supplier quality processes and interface with GPSC. Partner to set purchase specifications, PPAP, and manage receiving inspections quality audits and define quality contractual requirements.

  • Contribute to maintenance of ISO/IATF certifications and compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced training/experience in the use of statistical techniques and process improvement methods

  • Interpret basic technical drawings including characteristics such as views, title blocks, dimensioning, GD&T symbols, etc. Interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics

  • Must have experience with and be able to exhibit the use of structured problem-solving techniques utilizing computer applications

  • Six sigma certification & CQE
