Job Posting Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the Associate Director ofCommunity Standards & Student Conduct (https://www.mercy.edu/student-support) plays a critical role in fostering a safe and supportive campus environment through Student Conduct Adjudication. This position is responsible for managing the student conduct process, participating and at times chairing the Student Emergency Fund committee, and supporting the behavioral intervention (CARE) Team. The Associate Director collaborates with various stakeholders to maintain community standards and promote student accountability.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Student Conduct Management:
Oversee the routing and adjudication of incident reports (excluding Title IX and Academic Integrity cases)
Determine case assignments to appropriate hearing officers and provide guidance on the adjudication process
Facilitate individual and group meetings with students involved in conduct cases, ensuring a thorough and fair investigation
Utilize approved software for case creation, documentation, and correspondence
Ensure timely communication with students regarding findings and outcomes
Maintain accurate records of all student conduct cases, including documentation of meetings and discussions
Student Emergency Fund:
Review submitted applications
Meet with applicants individually to determine emergency situations, financial need, and share procedural information about approval process
Facilitate a weekly meeting with the Student Emergency Fund committee to make award decisions
Communicate with Student Financial Services and Student Accounts team to ensure disbursement of awards
Utilize approved software for case creation, documentation, and correspondence
Collaboration and Training:
Work closely with the Residential Life team to review conduct cases and trends on a monthly basis
Provide training for new staff on case management procedures and incident report writing
Providing training for PACT staff on CARE referrals and overlaps with the Student Conduct process
Software Management:
Manage and oversee the use of approved software
Manage the distribution and recording of required trainings for various student populations with respect of drug and alcohol use and sexual violence prevention
Conduct regular reviews and updates to ensure the accuracy of data and functionality of software
Policy and Procedure Oversight:
Assist in the revision of the Student Handbook, coordinating updates with relevant departments, ensuring availability on Mercy.edu and distribution to all students
Ensure compliance with Clery Act reporting requirements
CARE Team Support:
When prompted, manage CARE case and student outreach for students referred to CARE Team
Participate in biweekly CARE Team meetings to discuss student progress and interventions
Collaborate with other units to coordinate targeted support including, but not limited to, Counseling Services, Basic Needs, ACCESSibility, Tutoring, Residential Life, Campus Life, and Academic Advising
Assessment and Reporting:
Analyze data from student conduct surveys and assessments to inform practices and improve student outcomes
Prepare reports and documentation for departmental assessments and audits
Other duties as assigned
Provide support in other areas within the Division of Student Affairs as needed
Manage content that is uploaded to the Community Standards and Student Conduct web page
Oversee completion of disciplinary records checks as requested
Compliance and Crisis Management:
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations related to residential life and campus life
Develop and implement crisis intervention and management protocols, providing support and guidance during emergencies within residential and campus settings
Coordinate with Campus Safety and other relevant departments to ensure the safety and well-being of students
Serve as a point of contact for parents and families, providing information and addressing concerns as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs or a related field
Demonstrated experience in program development, management, and assessment
Proven track record of effective leadership and collaboration with diverse campus constituencies
Experience in crisis management and student support services preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges
Ability to travel between locations
Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the campus community.
Proficiency in using technology and data analysis to inform decision-making and program development
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field required
Master’s degree in student personnel services or related field preferred

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:
Deferred Compensation Plan
All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.
Defined Contribution Plan
Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.
If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
