There are no education or experience requirements for an Office Assistant 1 position, but candidates–must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.ORCandidates can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Beginning Office Assistant eligible list.ORCandidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description As an Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail), you would be primarily responsible for receiving, picking up, delivering, opening, appropriately recording, time stamping, sorting, and distributing mail, e-mail, or other forms of correspondence or communication, as well as, maintaining files, correspondence, documents, and materials, pursuant to guidelines. You will also be required to maintain various listings for mail service purposes, and process outgoing mail by inserting letters into envelopes, sealing envelopes, and applying correct postage. You may also operate a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver mail.
