Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
of L&D Beds: 4 L&D beds, 7 postpartum
Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: Labor: 1:1-2, PostPartum: 1:2-3
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: >35 weeks in labor, Mom/Baby couplets
Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Antepartum/Labor- Magnesium, Oxytocin, LR, Zofran, etc . Postpartum: Prenatal vitamin, Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Percocet, Toradol
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes
RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Neonatal vent- CPAP, Bipap, high flow
EFM System OB Trace Vue
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7-7 // block scheduling
Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend
Holiday Requirements: Depending on availability
Floating Requirements: Floating to MSP/ED for helping hands, mostly sitting 1:1 with patients
How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 3- 12 hour shifts
Additional Notes: This is a rural hospital, distance from NICU >1 hour away, limited services. Attributes that help a nurse be successful in this unit team work, provider consistency, knowledge, independence, good communication
Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
