Description
The T&D Projects Manager will report directly to the regional T&D Global Practice Manager and have overall responsibility for the execution of T&D projects and pursuits within the region. The T&D Projects Manager will be responsible for fostering a culture of proactive communication, continuous improvement, and a focus on growth and profitability. The Manager will assist the regional T&D Global Practice Manager in the development of the project management strategy for furthering Burns & McDonnell’s position, establishing the sales and business development plans for set growth objectives, and facilitating collaboration with regional transmission activities, pursuits, and projects.
Responsible for establishing Burns & McDonnell’s position in the substation and transmission and power delivery markets through strategic planning and business plan development with a focus on continued growth in market share and profit.
Facilitate collaboration with regional offices to coordinate substation and transmission business plans and assist in the pursuit of substation, transmission and power delivery opportunities.
Manage client capture plans and facilitate capture plans for a regional location.
Manage transmission project team financials and report findings to leadership.
Manage identification of target client opportunities and oversee coordination of the pursuit with the Sales team and transmission seller-doers.
Manage transmission pursuit decisions including “go no-go” decisions, marketing strategies, proposals, pricing, contract terms and conditions.
Direct client maintenance and development activities with a focus on profitably and gaining market share.
Direct QC process to monitor the development of scopes of work, schedules and budgets during the pursuit process and during execution to help highlight any potential issue areas.
Responsible for monitoring project metrics and meet with Project Managers to: Oversee the profitability and financial performance of transmission projects; Promote and confirm implementation of BMcD Quality Control procedures; Oversee implementation of project management methods, procedures, and tools; Track and oversee schedule development and compliance on transmission projects; Identify and oversee implementation of effective change management practices on transmission projects; Proactively work through corrective actions where deficiencies are identified.
Direct contract reviews, negotiation, and advisement during annual renewal processes.
Responsible for ensuring alignment and support of Regional Office staff development, quality control and resource coordination.
Recruits, hires, develops, and retains outstanding employee-owners.
Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for selected department or direct reports.
Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization to Department Managers.
Adheres and responsible for Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
Responsible for diversity initiatives.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program. A minimum of 7 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the transmission and distribution industry with a transmission engineering design and/or project management focus.
Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
Demonstrated results in client and business development.
Demonstrated results in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.
Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.
Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.
Excellent planning and analytical skills.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
